  • ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    भैरउ महला ५ ॥

    Bhairo Mehala 5 ||

    Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:

  • ਲਾਜ ਮਰੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ॥

    लाज मरै जो नामु न लेवै ॥

    Laj Marai Jo Nam N Laevai ||

    One who does not repeat the Naam, the Name of the Lord, shall die of shame.

  • ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਕਿਉ ਸੋਵੈ ॥

    नाम बिहून सुखी किउ सोवै ॥

    Nam Bihoon Sukhee Kio Sovai ||

    Without the Name, how can he ever sleep in peace?

  • ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਚਾਹੈ ॥

    हरि सिमरनु छाडि परम गति चाहै ॥

    Har Simaran Shhadd Param Gath Chahai ||

    The mortal abandons meditative remembrance of the Lord, and then wishes for the state of supreme salvation;

  • ਮੂਲ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਖਾ ਕਤ ਆਹੈ ॥੧॥

    मूल बिना साखा कत आहै ॥१॥

    Mool Bina Sakha Kath Ahai ||1||

    But without roots, how can there be any branches? ||1||

  • ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

    गुरु गोविंदु मेरे मन धिआइ ॥

    Gur Govindh Maerae Man Dhhiae ||

    O my mind, meditate on the Guru, the Lord of the Universe.

  • ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    जनम जनम की मैलु उतारै बंधन काटि हरि संगि मिलाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

    Janam Janam Kee Mail Outharai Bandhhan Katt Har Sang Milae ||1|| Rehao ||

    The filth of countless incarnations shall be washed away. Breaking your bonds, you shall be united with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

  • ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੈਲੁ ॥

    तीरथि नाइ कहा सुचि सैलु ॥

    Theerathh Nae Keha Such Sail ||

    How can a stone be purified by bathing at a sacred shrine of pilgrimage?

  • ਮਨ ਕਉ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥

    मन कउ विआपै हउमै मैलु ॥

    Man Ko Viapai Houmai Mail ||

    The filth of egotism clings to the mind.

  • ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ॥

    कोटि करम बंधन का मूलु ॥

    Kott Karam Bandhhan Ka Mool ||

    Millions of rituals and actions taken are the root of entanglements.

  • ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਪੂਲੁ ॥੨॥

    हरि के भजन बिनु बिरथा पूलु ॥२॥

    Har Kae Bhajan Bin Birathha Pool ||2||

    Without meditating and vibrating on the Lord, the mortal gathers only worthless bundles of straw. ||2||

  • ਬਿਨੁ ਖਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਹੀ ਭੂਖ ॥

    बिनु खाए बूझै नही भूख ॥

    Bin Khaeae Boojhai Nehee Bhookh ||

    Without eating, hunger is not satisfied.

  • ਰੋਗੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥

    रोगु जाइ तां उतरहि दूख ॥

    Rog Jae Than Outharehi Dhookh ||

    When the disease is cured, then the pain goes away.

  • ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ॥

    काम क्रोध लोभ मोहि बिआपिआ ॥

    Kam Krodhh Lobh Mohi Biapia ||

    The mortal is engrossed in sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment.

  • ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੩॥

    जिनि प्रभि कीना सो प्रभु नही जापिआ ॥३॥

    Jin Prabh Keena So Prabh Nehee Japia ||3||

    He does not meditate on God, that God who created him. ||3||

  • ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਧੰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

    धनु धनु साध धंनु हरि नाउ ॥

    Dhhan Dhhan Sadhh Dhhann Har Nao ||

    Blessed, blessed is the Holy Saint, and blessed is the Name of the Lord.

  • ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥

    आठ पहर कीरतनु गुण गाउ ॥

    Ath Pehar Keerathan Gun Gao ||

    Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Kirtan, the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

  • ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰ ॥

    धनु हरि भगति धनु करणैहार ॥

    Dhhan Har Bhagath Dhhan Karanaihar ||

    Blessed is the devotee of the Lord, and blessed is the Creator Lord.

  • ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੫॥

    सरणि नानक प्रभ पुरख अपार ॥४॥३२॥४५॥

    Saran Naanak Prabh Purakh Apar ||4||32||45||
