• ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

  जैतसरी महला ५ ॥

  Jaithasaree Mehala 5 ||

  Jaitsree, Fifth Mehl:

• ਕੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਦੇਵੈ ਜੋਰਿ ॥

  कोई जनु हरि सिउ देवै जोरि ॥

  Koee Jan Har Sio Dhaevai Jor ||

  If only someone would unite me with the Lord!

• ਚਰਨ ਗਹਉ ਬਕਉ ਸੁਭ ਰਸਨਾ ਦੀਜਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਕੋਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

  चरन गहउ बकउ सुभ रसना दीजहि प्रान अकोरि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

  Charan Geho Bako Subh Rasana Dheejehi Pran Akor ||1|| Rehao ||

  I hold tight to His feet, and utter sweet words with my tongue; I make my breath of life an offering to Him. ||1||Pause||

• ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਤ ਕਿਆਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਸੁਧਾ ਸੰਜੋਰਿ ॥

  मनु तनु निरमल करत किआरो हरि सिंचै सुधा संजोरि ॥

  Man Than Niramal Karath Kiaro Har Sinchai Sudhha Sanjor ||

  I make my mind and body into pure little gardens, and irrigate them with the sublime essence of the Lord.

• ਇਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਮਗਨੁ ਹੋਤ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੋਰਿ ॥੧॥

  इआ रस महि मगनु होत किरपा ते महा बिखिआ ते तोरि ॥१॥

  Eia Ras Mehi Magan Hoth Kirapa Thae Meha Bikhia Thae Thor ||1||

  I am drenched with this sublime essence by His Grace, and the powerful hold of Maya*s corruption has been broken. ||1||

• ਆਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਤੁਮ੍‍ਰੀ ਓਰਿ ॥

  आइओ सरणि दीन दुख भंजन चितवउ तुम्‍री ओरि ॥

  Aeiou Saran Dheen Dhukh Bhanjan Chithavo Thumharee Our ||

  I have come to Your Sanctuary, O Destroyer of the suffering of the innocent; I keep my consciousness focused on You.

• ਆਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਤੁਮ੍‍ਰੀ ਓਰਿ ॥

  अभै पदु दानु सिमरनु सुआमी को प्रभ नानक बंधन छोरि ॥२॥५॥९॥

  Abhai Padh Dhan Simaran Suamee Ko Prabh Naanak Bandhhan Shhor ||2||5||9||

  Bless me with the gifts of the state of fearlessness, and meditative remembrance, Lord and Master; O Nanak, God is the Breaker of bonds. ||2||5||9||

• ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥

  जीअ की बिरथा होइ सु गुर पहि अरदासि करि ॥

  Jeea Kee Birathha Hoe S Gur Pehi Aradhas Kar ||

  When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.

• ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥

  छोडि सिआणप सगल मनु तनु अरपि धरि ॥

  Shhodd Sianap Sagal Man Than Arap Dhhar ||

  Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.

• ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥

  पूजहु गुर के पैर दुरमति जाइ जरि ॥

  Poojahu Gur Kae Pair Dhuramath Jae Jar ||

  Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.

• ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥

  साध जना कै संगि भवजलु बिखमु तरि ॥

  Sadhh Jana Kai Sang Bhavajal Bikham Thar ||

  Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

• ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥

  सेवहु सतिगुर देव अगै न मरहु डरि ॥

  Saevahu Sathigur Dhaev Agai N Marahu Ddar ||

  Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.

• ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥

  खिन महि करे निहालु ऊणे सुभर भरि ॥

  Khin Mehi Karae Nihal Oonae Subhar Bhar ||

  In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.

• ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥

  मन कउ होइ संतोखु धिआईऐ सदा हरि ॥

  Man Ko Hoe Santhokh Dhhiaeeai Sadha Har ||

  The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.

• ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥

  सो लगा सतिगुर सेव जा कउ करमु धुरि ॥६॥

  So Laga Sathigur Saev Ja Ko Karam Dhhur ||6||

  He alone dedicates himself to the Guru*s service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||
