  • ਹਮ ਅਵਗੁਣਿ ਭਰੇ ਏਕੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥

    हम अवगुणि भरे एकु गुणु नाही अंम्रितु छाडि बिखै बिखु खाई ॥

    Ham Avagun Bharae Eaek Gun Nahee Anmrith Shhadd Bikhai Bikh Khaee ||

    I am overflowing with sins and demerits; I have no merits or virtues at all. I abandoned the Ambrosial Nectar, and I drank poison instead.

  • ਮਾਯਾ ਮੋਹ ਭਰਮ ਪੈ ਭੂਲੇ ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥

    माया मोह भरम पै भूले सुत दारा सिउ प्रीति लगाई ॥

    ਮਾਯਾ ਮੋਹ ਭਰਮ ਪੈ ਭੂਲੇ ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥

    I am attached to Maya, and deluded by doubt; I have fallen in love with my children and spouse.

  • ਇਕੁ ਉਤਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਲੰਤ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥

    इकु उतम पंथु सुनिओ गुर संगति तिह मिलंत जम त्रास मिटाई ॥

    Eik Outham Panthh Suniou Gur Sangath Thih Milanth Jam Thras Mittaee ||

    I have heard that the most exalted Path of all is the Sangat, the Guru*s Congregation. Joining it, the fear of death is taken away.

  • ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥

    जीअ की बिरथा होइ सु गुर पहि अरदासि करि ॥

    Jeea Kee Birathha Hoe S Gur Pehi Aradhas Kar ||

    When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.

  • ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥

    छोडि सिआणप सगल मनु तनु अरपि धरि ॥

    Shhodd Sianap Sagal Man Than Arap Dhhar ||

    Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.

  • ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥

    पूजहु गुर के पैर दुरमति जाइ जरि ॥

    Poojahu Gur Kae Pair Dhuramath Jae Jar ||

    Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.

  • ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥

    साध जना कै संगि भवजलु बिखमु तरि ॥

    Sadhh Jana Kai Sang Bhavajal Bikham Thar ||

    Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

  • ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥

    सेवहु सतिगुर देव अगै न मरहु डरि ॥

    Saevahu Sathigur Dhaev Agai N Marahu Ddar ||

    Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.

  • ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥

    खिन महि करे निहालु ऊणे सुभर भरि ॥

    Khin Mehi Karae Nihal Oonae Subhar Bhar ||

    In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.

  • ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥

    मन कउ होइ संतोखु धिआईऐ सदा हरि ॥

    Man Ko Hoe Santhokh Dhhiaeeai Sadha Har ||

    The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.

  • ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥

    सो लगा सतिगुर सेव जा कउ करमु धुरि ॥६॥

    So Laga Sathigur Saev Ja Ko Karam Dhhur ||6||

    He alone dedicates himself to the Guru*s service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||
